More government agencies are adopting Lean-Agile practices to generate better results for stakeholders, including government personnel, contractors, and civilians. But how do you overcome legacy governance, contracting, and organizational barriers? How do you adapt private sector success patterns to the government context to deliver value faster?
In the SAFe for Government course, you’ll learn how to apply Lean-Agile and SAFe practices in a government organization. So you can deliver projects with speed and quality. Improve collaboration with teams and stakeholders, mitigate risk, and make efficient use of taxpayer money.

This course is aimed primarily at executives of government organizations who work according to SAFe or are considering doing so. However, the course is also very suitable for anyone working in government and looking for a global overview of SAFe.
This course is the official SAFe course and is delivered by certified trainers. TheSAFe Government Practitioner (SGP) certification exam is included in the course. The cost of the exam is part of the course price. You will take this online exam at a time and place of your own choice, but within 30 days of the course. In the Scaled Agile online learning environment, you will have access to an e-learning prior to attending the course and to the digital workbook that accompanies the course. Youcan also use this environment to take a practice test (mock exam). Included in the course is a one-year membership of the SAFe Community Platform. This platform gives you access to videos, discussion forums, toolkits and templates. This course is based on the most recent version of SAFe.Prerequisites
Prior to the course, you will have access to five Scaled Agile e-learning modules:
- Agile Basics
- What is SAFe for Lean Enterprises?
- SAFe Core Values
- Lean-Agile Mindset
- SAFe Lean-Agile Principles
In order to start the training with the correct prior knowledge, it is essential that you go through these e-learnings prior to the training. This will take you between 2 and 4 hours.
Objectives
The learning objectives are:
- How to apply Lean, Agile, and DevOps principles and practices in traditional government organizations and cultures.
- How to adapt technology strategy, budgeting and forecasting, acquisition, compliance, and governance practices to flow-based practices using emerging government guidelines.
- How to organize government programs into ARTs and execute in program increments (PIs), even in remote environments with distributed teams.
- How to build an action plan to begin or accelerate a SAFe implementation in your program or agency.
