Digital accessibility is essential in creating an inclusive world for everyone. A relevant topic as roughly 1 out of 4 people in our society experiences some sort of disability. That is why in the Netherlands, since September 23, 2020, websites and applications of government institutions must comply with the guidelines for digital accessibility, also known as WCAG.
During this half-day introduction, you will be primed to build accessible websites for everyone. After an explanation of several types of accessibility problems, you will understand what the distinct types of users need. After that, together we will build solutions (according to the WCAG standard) for various cases that are often encountered in the accessibility landscape. In the end, you will return home with a fresh look at digital accessibility, with knowledge you can directly implement when working on your web projects!
  • (Beginning) web developers who want to learn to make their webpages accessible and ensure their projects comply with WCAG standards.
Beginning skills and knowledge of HTML, CSS and DOM manipulation. The 'HTML Fundamentals', 'CSS Fundamentals' and 'JavaScript Patterns' training courses address these topics and are extremely suitable to follow prior to this training.
During this training you need a laptop on which you can install software: Visual studio code or any other lightweight IDE.
