    What is Introduction Data Modelling

You are aware that data modeling is a skill that not only a database administrator possesses. You think that standardization is a term to signify the end of the cold war or you have never made an ERD that is understood by others!
In all these cases this training is suitable for you. The organization for which you work benefits from the modeling skills you learn and the use of DAMA-DMBOK in which data modeling is defined as one of the (core) task areas.
After completing this training you will have knowledge of:

    • The differences between the conceptual, logical and physical data model
    • The reasons for which you use data models
    • Assessing data models (3NF)
    • Making a (logical / ERD diagrams) data model (via assignments)
    • The importance of data analysis for good (er) modeling
    • The importance of meta data and recording of meta data (data dictionary)
    • BI models (star diagram)
    • Modeling within DAMA

After completing this training you will be able to:

    • Read and interpret a logical data model
    • Make a normalized data model in 3NF
    • Apply the right model at the right time
    • Use different schematic techniques (ERD, UML)
    • Use all possible sources of data
    • To communicate with all involved

Who should attend Introduction Data Modelling

    This training is intended for:

    • Starters at the start of their career
    • People who make a career switch to the field of Business Intelligence

People working in IT, in particular in departments such as Business Intelligence in, for example, the function of:

    • Software engineer
    • Business analyst
    • BI consultant
    • Functional designer
    • Report builder

No specific prior knowledge is required.

    Objectives

After completing this training, the participant has knowledge of:

    • Assessing data models (3NF) Conceptual - Logical - Physical models
    • Making a (logical / ERD diagrams) data model (via assignments)
    • The importance of meta data and recording of meta data (data dictionary) BI models (star diagram)
    • The importance of data analysis for good (er) modeling Modeling within DAMA
    • The concepts of data modeling
    • The different models that are made during data modeling.

In addition, the participant has insight into the differences between the conceptual (business data), the logical (operational) and the physical (physical) data model. The participant is able to: apply the right model at the right time use different schematic techniques (ERD, UML) apply the principles of standardization use all possible sources of data to communicate with all involved
