What is Dimensional Modeling
You are familiar with principles of data modelling, but you are about to face a new challenge: create a data model to support reports in a Business Intelligence environment. This reporting environment calls for a new approach of data modelling. Such approach is labelled as ‘dimensional modelling’.
You learn to create data models to base reporting upon.
You will be made familiar with terms like:- Fact tables
- Dimensions
- OLAP techniques
- Kimball approach
- Slicing/ dicing/ drill through
- Mini dimensions
We explain how to translate user requirements into a dimensional model. We also present technical aspects that are applicable to the implementation of these models in a database.
Finally, we show how to communicate these models with the business user.Who should attend Dimensional Modeling
The training Dimensional Modeling is suitable for: Starters, but also people who are making a career switch to the profession of Business Intelligence.
